Brian Silva & His Vision
“I believe that it is most important for contemporary course design to take its inspiration from traditional courses both on the links of Scotland and in this country. When I first heard about the vision for Renaissance, I knew it was a project with which I wanted to be involved. That the Club insisted on a Brian Silva Signature course further showed their interest in a product that honored the traditions that make the game of golf great.” said Brian Silva, Course Architect.
Mr. Silva is leading the retro design movement in the United States and was recognized by Golf World as its "Architect of the Year" for 1999. Some of Mr. Silva's recent work includes a restoration of the Ross-designed Biltmore Forest Country Club --site of the USGA Women's Amateur in 1999 -- and his acclaimed homage to golf course architect Seth Raynor at Black Creek Golf Club in Tennessee. His current list of renovation clients includes some of the nation's preeminent clubs: Seminole; Fox Chapel Golf Club in Pittsburgh, a Raynor classic, which Silva prepared for the 2002 USGA Curtis Cup Matches; the Ross-designed Augusta Country Club, next-door neighbor to Augusta National; and the Herbert Leeds-designed Myopia Hunt Club in Hamilton, Massachusetts.
