When Brian Silva was brought in to design Renaissance Golf Club he was instructed to design a course that would encourage walking. One of Renaissance’s six guiding principles to help promote a walking facility was to develop a strong caddie program. In the first year of the caddie program, Renaissance recruited over 50 caddies to go through an extensive training program. In an effort to continue to build an even stronger caddie program, Renaissance created an endowment in the Francis Ouimet Caddie Scholarship for any caddie who shows the commitment to the game of the golf. Additionally, honoring that commitment, Renaissance will give a select number of caddies (those who show exceptional passion for the game) a junior golfing membership for one year.

The caddie program will give young adults (11 years and older) the chance to learn the game through example. They’ll be taught the rules of the course, how to care for the course, how to forecaddie and how to keep the members happy with the game moving forward. The goal is to instill that same sense of pride and honor that the first caddies felt as they walked the course so many years ago.
